The games will be based on stories, characters, and locations that have been a part of RuneScape's long and rich history, with the board game taking between one to five players on quest-based quests through Gielinor.
They will craft and upgrade equipment, upgrade their characters, cook special recipes, interact on a variety of topics with NPCs to test their skills in various regions of the world. There's also an array of exciting side quests to distract and amuse them on their route.
The TTRPG will comprise a lavishly illustrated, hardback rulebook that will contain the guidelines for players who want to play an RuneScape tabletop OSRS gold roleplaying game in which they can build their own characters, discover Gielinor and make fascinating and innovative quests. The TTRPG core book is fully compatible with the rules of fifth edition from Dungeons & Dragons.
It is expected that the RuneScape games will mark Steamforged's 12th edition of a video game designed for tabletop. Past adaptations have included that of Monster Hunter: World board game, which made PS3.4 million through Kickstarter in 2021.
The exchange of virtual currencies in exchange for real money could be a major issue for many online games, upsetting in-game economies, unbalancing player experiences, or making games into pay-to-win situations. In RuneScape it is the case that trading the virtual gold is one of the biggest issues with bots mining the resources, and accusations that the option to purchase in-game bonds for real-world money amounts to gambling.
Today, Jagex has outlined plans to tackle the problem. In a recent blog post with the name "The RuneScape Team", Jagex states that "gold purchased through RWT is a major issue in any online game that uses an exchangeable currency" however, even though its "Anti-Cheating Team has made significant efforts to fight RWT sellers in as well out" It will soon be adopting stronger measures as of immediate effective.
With a "growing team " and "improved methods", Jagex says it will no longer just be focused on sellers of gold and sources through RWT but as buy RS gold buyers. The aim is to limit the demand and also the supply.
Jagex claims it will be sending "messages to those we've identified as engaging on"RWT" within "the coming hours". "For anyone who has been involved, we'd like to emphasize that this is your single message, and the only one," it added.
